Mainnet
Live production blockchain with real money — opposite of testnet (fake tokens).
Mainnet is the production network of a blockchain where transactions cost real money with real tokens.
Opposite of testnet.
Mainnet launch — key moment
When a new blockchain exits testnet to mainnet — this is often the drop trigger. Testers get tokens for past activity.
Examples: Sui mainnet (2023), Aptos mainnet (2022), Berachain mainnet (2024).
What to do at mainnet launch
- Transact in the first hours — sometimes bonus rewards for early users.
- Bridge assets — sometimes points for TVL.
- Use new dapps on the network — incubated projects often run their own drops.
