Glossary
Crypto dictionary
All terms you'll see in airdrop guides — explained simply, with examples and real numbers.
Airdrop
Free distribution of crypto project tokens to users who did something (tested, traded, held NFTs, etc.).
Retroactive Drop
Airdrop for past activity — tokens go to users who used the project before the drop was announced.
Testnet
Test network of the project — users make transactions with fake tokens, the project tests its code.
Points Program
Project credits points for activity, later converts to tokens at TGE.
Snapshot
Recording holder state at a specific date — used later to distribute a drop.
Sybil Attack
One person creates many wallets to claim a bigger airdrop. Projects detect and ban this.
Mainnet
Live production blockchain with real money — opposite of testnet (fake tokens).
TGE (Token Generation Event)
Token launch day — airdrop claim, CEX listing, trading begins.
Bridge
Service to move tokens between different blockchains (e.g. ETH from Ethereum to Arbitrum).
Gas (Network Fee)
Fee paid to process a transaction. Paid in the network native token (ETH on Ethereum, SOL on Solana).
Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 1 (L1)
L1 — base blockchain (Ethereum). L2 — overlay for cheap fast transactions (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base).
Wallet
Software/device for storing crypto and signing transactions. The main crypto tool.
DYOR (Do Your Own Research)
Do your own research. Trust no one blindly, including us.
Staking
Locking tokens in a smart contract for time — get APR or points toward a future drop.
DeFi (Decentralized Finance)
Financial services (exchanges, loans, insurance) on blockchain — no banks.
